Something caught my eye yesterday when browsing news on Google.

The headline read, “Google Maps Hates The Ohio State University.”  As an Ohio native and fan of Ohio State, I was intrigued and clicked the link revealing the image below:

Immediately you’ll notice the review incorrectly lists the stadium as that of the Columbus Crew, with the description, “Looks like a toilet bowl. Also a den of cheaters.”

It’s not surprising that a dolt would take the image, concoct a ridiculous headline, hit publish and sit back smiling as others took the image at face value.

Looking at the Ohio Stadium image in Google Maps today reveals no such description of the stadium.

Could the image above have been doctored? Certainly.  Another  explanation could be the fact that the Columbus Crew played in the stadium for the first 2 years of their existence and the description had not been removed until now.

Whatever the cause for the incorrect description, Google Maps never hated Ohio State but it’s still unclear if they have it out for the Columbus Crew.
