A teen who tried to steal a soft drink from a vending machine got his arm stuck in the receiving slot and had to be rescued by emergency services.
A trolley rider called for help after spotting the unnamed 17-year-old with his arm lodged inside a Coca-Cola machine on 22nd Street in National City at around 5:00 am.
The thirsty teen spent an hour sitting on the sidewalk with his arm trapped inside the machine before firefighters were able to free him.
Rescuers took axes, crowbars and an air chisel to the machine before eventually using a rotary saw to cut off the lock on the door to free the beanie-wearing high-schooler.
The teen, who was attended to by waiting medics, said his arm was sore but not badly hurt.
Officers took the boy into custody, and are considering petty theft charges.
