Michigan launches talking urinal cake initiative

Traveling to, or live in, Michigan? If so, you have an unexpected conversation at a urinal.

The Michigan Licensed Beverage Association has launched ‘talking urinal-deodorizer cakes’ to keep drunk drivers off the road and combat poor hygiene. Launched in four counties so far, these ‘cakes’ will talk to men who step up to the urinal, reminding them to get home safely.

According to ABC News

Anne Readett, chief of the highway safety planning office, said her office hoped that using the Wizmark to combat drunken driving “might turn some heads.”

Her office has collaborated with the Michigan Licensed Beverage Associationto distribute the talking urinal cakes in bars and restaurants, complete with a female voice that says,  “Hey, listen up. Yeah, I’m talking to you. Had a few drinks? Maybe a few too many? Do yourself and everyone else a favor. Call a sober friend or a cab. And don’t forget: Wash your hands.”

Excellent, weird, creation.

More excellent than a talking urinal cake would be a recording device capturing the conversation between a drunk and the urinal cake itself.
