A Phoenix mom faces child abuse charges for giving her 2-year old son beer.
Phoenix Police Officer say Valerie Topete, 36, admitted to pouring beer into her toddler’s sippy cup because the boy kept reaching for her pitcher of beer while the family was eating at Peter Piper Pizza.
According to police:
“The witnesses told us that they actually, as they were watching this unfold, saw the child lift the sippy cup to his mouth and appear to be drinking from the sippy cup. Initially, Ms. Topete told us the child did not drink from the cup when she poured beer in it.”
The toddler, along with two other children ages 4 and 8, who were also at the pizza restaurant with Topete are now in their father’s custody.
Topete faces one count of child abuse.
