Texas doctor pays hitman with silver bars, William Jennings Bryan smiles from the grave

Dr. Thomas Michael Dixon (above), a plastic surgeon from Amarillo, TX, reportedly hired a hitman to kill a fellow doctor who was dating his ex-girlfriend.

According to reports, Dixon paid David Shepard with three silver bars, each worth $3,000, to kill Dr. Joseph Sonnier llll. That’s right, three silver bars.

Shepard’s roommate claims Shepard snuck into Sonnier’s house “through a window and shot him several times” using a gun that Dixon had provided. He added that he was so “distraught” following the murder, that he slit his wrists. Using his medical talents, Dixon closed the wounds and suggested Shepard “leave for a couple of weeks.”

Dixon was very well-respected in the community and by co-workers, but had gone through a messy divorce last year.

Dixon and Shepard are currently in custody awaiting extradition to Lubbock.
